In celebration of “Poetry Month” the Center for the Arts has invited New Hampshire poets to participate in an original poetry writing contest.  The theme for this year’s contest is “Where the Wild Things Are” Poets were asked to submit one poem based on this theme that may be serious, humorous, and/or thought provoking.  New Hampshire poet Rodger Martin was the judge. .  The poems were received and the judge has selected one winner from each of the following categories: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Adults.    

Public announcement of the winners will occur at Center for this Arts First Friday event on the April 1, 2016.  This reception will be held at Woodcrest Village, 41 Main Street in New London from 5:00 to 7:00pm.  Each of the winning poets have been invited to read their poems at this event.

Guest speaker Kitty Wilson, photographer and secretary for the Pleasant Lake Protection Association, will speak about PLPA’s role to protect and preserve the water and the environment of Pleasant Lake.  Hopefully she will also share some of her wildlife photography that evening.
